Possible options
Step-by-step instuctions to get your seeds to blossom
You don't have to have green fingers, you just need to be a little patient. Follow these 5 steps to create the optimal conditions:

Step 1: Make it wet
Thoroughly wet the Growing papier so that the paper can dissolve and the seeds can germinate

Step 2: Plant the Growing paper
Plant the Growing Paper in a pot inside or plant it outside. We only recommend planting outside in the months of May to October The process can be sped up by using seed compost or potting soil for the vegetable garden..

Step 3: Cover with soil
Cover the growing paper with about 1cm to 1.5cm of soil. Be careful not to use too much soil as the weight may slow the process down or prevent the seeds from germinating all together..

Step 4: Watering
Water every day to make sure the paper stays moist. If you have a sprinkler with a soft spray head at home, we advise you to use it. If not, make sure you distribute the water evenly over the soil-covered paper.

Step 5: Bright environment, be patient and enjoy the result!
A light and warm environment is good for the germination process, but too much sun can cause the paper to dry out and the seeds will not be able to germinate. All that is left now, is patience and waiting for the seeds to germinate. After a week you can replace water with love and attention, and you can enjoy the result for a long time!

Frequently asked questions
What is growth paper?
Growing paper is an innovative and sustainable alternative to traditional paper. This special paper contains seeds that, when planted and watered in the ground, germinate and grow into flowers, herbs or plants. Growing paper is often made from recycled materials or biodegradable fibres, making it an eco-friendly product. It is becoming increasingly popular for business cards, invitations and flyers, among others, as it is not only functional but also conveys a nice message of sustainability.
Can you print growing paper?
Yes, growing paper can be printed, but it requires special techniques to avoid damaging the germination of the seeds. Traditional printing methods with a lot of heat or chemical inks can be harmful to the seeds. Therefore, printing is often used:
- Digital printing techniques which do not crush the seeds.
When designing printing on growth paper, it is smart to consider light colours and less ink consumption to preserve the natural texture and visible seeds.
Is growing paper sustainable?
Absolutely! Growth paper is one of the most eco-friendly papers available. This is due to several reasons:
- Biodegradable: The paper completely decomposes in the soil and leaves no harmful residue.
- Made from recycled material: Often, waste paper or cotton fibres are used instead of cutting down new trees.
- Dual function: First it acts as a communication tool (e.g. a card or flyer), then as a seed source contributing to greening.
As a result, growing paper contributes to a circular economy and helps reduce waste.
How long does growing paper last?
The shelf life of growing paper depends on the conditions in which it is stored. Some tips to maximise its lifespan:
- Keep dry and cool: Moisture can cause seeds to germinate prematurely.
- Limiting exposure to light: Direct sunlight can reduce germination.
- Airtight storage: Prevents seeds from drying out or going mouldy.
Generally, growing paper lasts between 1 and 2 years, depending on the type of seeds it contains.
What are the seeds in growing paper?
Growth paper is available with different types of seeds, depending on the application and user preference. Some popular options include:
- Flower mix: Often contains wildflowers such as poppies, daisies and cornflowers, ideal for bees and butterflies.
- Spice mix: Think basil, parsley or thyme, perfect for cooking.
- Vegetable seeds: Like tomatoes, carrots or lettuce, ideal for kitchen gardens.
When choosing seeds, local climatic and soil conditions are often taken into account to maximise the chances of successful growth.
